Tasks Q&A

Q: What type of tasks are there?

A: This is an evolving list, but for the Q3 2021 release we’ll support the following task types:

Q: Aren’t fertilizers a type of soil amendment?

A: It depends who you ask. In general fertilizers put elements plants need to grow (primarily nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium - collectively known as NPK) into the soil while other types of amendments change the structure or ph of the soil. We are treating them as separate tasks because fertilizers were build to impact the nitrogen balance insight and other types of amendments may not.

Q: What’s the difference between washing and cleaning?

A: We wash crop harvests and we clean equipment on the farm. Washing takes place just with water while cleaning uses some sort of organic approved cleaning agent. An example of cleaning could be cleaning the harvesting knives, harvest containers, and surfaces with an organic approved sanitizer in order to remove any trace manure that might be present.

Q: What methods of pest control can be documented in LiteFarm?

Q: When do users know how a harvest will be used?

A: @David Trapp do you have any insights on this? Our realistic options are at task creation or task completion.

@Lite Farm Typically, a producer would already know how a harvest is going to be used even before they start planting (think planting pickling cucumbers), but I would also say at task completion. If they have a bumper crop, then they might be willing to sell a portion, when they had originally only planned on using it for auto-consumption.
