AI in LiteFarm
This page is for ideas for small projects, preferably using AI (workflows, agents, chatbots, etc) that we could extend into LiteFarm. Feel free to add or vote for ideas, and absolutely go ahead to try out if something seems interesting! All the better if multiple people are excited about a single idea and want to make it a reality or if you prefer to try this as your own side project, that’s great too! Feel free to comment, tag people, discuss and kindle your curiosity!
Small ideas, big difference!

1. | Information repository related to specific agriculture topics | There are many free educational videos that offer wealth of knowledge, but information in these videos is quite specific and not searchable. Idea is to transcribe these videos using whisper AI and create articles also using AI summarizer that can be tagged in terms of topic (Eg: rearing pigs), region (Eg: Canada / Pacific NW) and indexed, and made available on our website or app, so that is more relevant and contextual (as opposed to a google or Chatgpt search which can be quite generic if you’ve tested this). This can be achieved using free AI tools and won’t require a lot of upkeep. Main benefit is that information on the internet is quite broad and very North America skewed (US majorly), but we can use AI to find very local and very specific info to create something out of it. Good for knowledge transfer, especially with ageing farming communities. I’m only cautious about one thing: if some org creates short reels on this information and the new age users find it more relevant Example of videos: https://www.accessagriculture.org/category/46/plant-health?page=1

2. | AI Crop Issue Assistant (Chatbot or Agent) | An idea is to build a ChatBot or workflow agent that helps farmers diagnose crop issues by describing symptoms (e.g., “leaves are turning yellow with brown edges”). The assistant could ask follow-up questions and use AI to suggest likely causes—such as nutrient deficiencies, pest problems, or watering issues—and recommend next steps or relevant resources. Why it’s useful:

3. | Smart Support Assistant (AI Help Bot) | Idea: Create an AI-powered support assistant that helps users troubleshoot issues before they need to contact the support team. It would simulate a conversation—asking follow-up questions and providing tips or links based on user input. Example use case:
Why it's useful:
Bonus: Over time, it could learn from past user issues to improve its answers and flow. | @Denis Dovganyuk | 0 |
4. | Crop Expert chatbot | This chat bot takes in details about your farm and can answer questions about a crop. | @Duncan Brain |

5 | Task creation bot | Questions like: “How often should I add magnesium to broccoli” could return answers and allow you to create soil amendment tasks” This can apply to other tasks” “How often should I oil my tractor” >> custom task to oil tractor 2x per year | @Duncan Brain |

6 | Management practice bot | New farmers are interested in sticking to a set of farming practice principles (biodynamic, bio intensive, organic, regenerative) . Make a bot that is a local expert for these management practices | @Duncan Brain |
