Accessibility enhancers

For each enhancer, we should have the following:

  • What it is

  • A visual representation of it

  • When it should be used

  • When it shouldn’t be used

Spotlight

Spotlights should be employed when a user is visiting a piece of functionality for the first time and may need help orientating to the most important ways they can interact with the new functionality. Best practice with spotlights is that they are only shown once or the user can mark them as “Do not show again”.

Subtext

Subtext are shown below input fields and provide guidance on …

Helptext

Helptext should be used when it’s clear what data a user should enter, but it’s unclear how data will be used in the system. In this case the helptext should explain in 1 - 2 sentences how entering or not entering the data will impact their use of LiteFarm.

Microcopy

Microcopy should be employed when the idea for an input is likely known, but the specific format is not. In this case, the microcopy should give a clear and well known example of how the data should be input.
